Why Would I Ever Want to Join the DU Alpine Club?
The Off-Campus Trips:
We have a huge variety of trips that are relatively inexpensive. Want to learn something new or find an easy way to get out of here? Then you should be hopping on these like the squirrel on your peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This is our specialty; we have been holding off-campus trips for over 77 years so we really know how to rock out in the wilderness.
The On-Campus Programs:
Want to learn something, or have fun, win stuff, compete, or just hang-out with the thousands of DU students that come to our meetings and on-campus events each year? We do everything from rowdy ski/board film premiers to clinics, presentations, and contests. Get together with the rest of the outdoor community and have lots of fun, meet people, and enjoy yourself.
Membership Benefits:
Being a member in the largest club on campus has its benefits. We have officers that are dedicated to hooking you up with the best deals, info and schwag. Not only do you get a bunch of stuff when you sign-up, but we are always doing special promos all year long and you could miss out on some sick stuff.
Community:
First and foremost we are a strong community of outdoor enthusiasts and we make it easy for you to find outdoor partners, new friends, and maybe the love of your life (we know we did!?!). Hundreds of students each year are members and tons of people on-campus kick it with us all the time and that is why we are “the club” on-campus.
Tradition:
Blah, blah, blah…college is all about tradition, etc. You have heard it and you know that colleges are full of traditions, well the Alpine Club is a major tradition here at DU as thousands upon thousands of students have done activities with us since 1928. But it’s not just that, many of our Alumni beg us to let them come on our trips each year and have many fond memories of waist-deep powder in Jackson Hole or sitting around a campfire with a bunch of friends after a long day of climbing. That’s what we are about: building relationships.
Lastly, it’s Easy:
Being a member in the club is extremely easy. We understand college students problems with commitments, we all know relationships with no-strings attached are just really easy to manage. That’s the nice thing about the Alpine Club, we have so much variety that every school quarter you can come and go as you please…and no we won’t be waiting up all night hoping for that phone call from you. So relax, have fun, do what you want…basically that is what we do everyday.
